Malibiclibic Falls, Bailen Cavite, Philippines ❁

The smell of earth, sweet chirping of birds,relaxing fresh air and the sound of- a waterfall? Yes, a hidden falls! 🌊

I heard about Malibiclibic falls via college friend who had an environmental project and needs to go there  to document the place. She invited me to come with her and I was quite reluctant at first because I’ve been drinking over the past week but eventually I gave in. So here’s my unexpected trek to the mysterious waterfall.

Today I will be sharing with you one of my exciting adventures here in the Philippines! It’s my province’s hidden gem and is located at Bailen, Cavite.

I know you’re just as curious as I am, why is it called “Malibiclibic”? 

I have to be honest, I still don’t know as of this moment. We (including my friend) are still wondering how did it got its name. What we all know is that there are rivers connecting from different cities of Cavite which made this hidden waterfall possible.

We started the day at 9am (Yeah it was pretty late-because of me) and we managed to get there at around 12noon (three hour trip inclusion of getting lost and eating snacks).

A three hour bus trip to Bailen, Cavite.

We were told to drop off at the Municipal Hall of Bailen so we went there. After we spoke to one of the representatives of the area, we then proceeded to go to the place by a yellow trycicle.

Kuya the trycicle driver took us to the hidden falls. He was also our tour guide back then. The road was very steep and bumpy which is quite scary at night.

Kuya stopped when we reached this hill. In this part of the place you can see the beautiful mountains of Cavite. Also this is where our trekking starts. (Look at ’em cows just chilling!) 

Since this was my first time to go trekking, I was very scared! (Though I have the spirit of adventure inside me, it scares me to death that we might get lost and slip on the moist rocks and die! Haha that’s how I overthink!)  

Crossed giant boulders and clung to branches of trees made me so nervous during that time. You really have to be mindful of yourself and be extra careful because once you fall, there’s no going back.

The trek lasted for one hour and thirty minutes. And yes I survived! When I heard the sound of a waterfall, I knew we’re already that close!!!

Aaaand we’re here!!!

Wow. I was stunned when I saw the falls for the first time. I’m glad to witness one of God’s creation! 

Everything is just so amazing. My friend and I were so lucky when we get there because we’re the only ones who are in the place during that time. (We could’ve thought of skinny dipping but there’s a tour guide with us. Haha) 

After helping my friend take photos of the hidden falls, we decided to take a dip. The falls is very deep so we were warned not to swim in the middle.

On the other side of the falls is this strong current with huge rocks. You can also go there but with precaution.

Hours after dipping, we realized we can’t stay in this place forever. As much as we want to, we really have to go home. And now we have to hike back up!

I didn’t get photos of us hiking up the place because its too slippery to go up and I’m too scared to think of me and my friend rolling back to the falls until night. Haha!

And we made it back! Yay!

Once we reached again the municipal hall. We waited for a jeepney to go back to the bus terminal. We waited for 30 minutes until one full jeepney stopped by. Since the ride is already full, we decided to just sit at the end of the vehicle. Hah! Another adventure! 

I will never forget this place. It’s worth the effort. The people in charge are very friendly and nice. I just hope tourists who visit the hidden falls don’t throw garbage anywhere and keep the place just as it is. Til next time, Malibiclibic Falls!

PS: If you’re planning to visit this place, make sure to bring trekking shoes because it gets slippery even if it’s not raining. And please bring eco-bags where you can put your trash! 🙂
