Hiking Mt. Gulugod Baboy, Anilao, Batangas πŸŒ³

Hello, WordPress!Β

πŸ‚πŸ‚πŸ‚

I’ve been gone for so long, and I wasn’t able to update my blog for a while.Β πŸ˜” Work has been consuming my time these days, and that’s undeniable. But that’s fine, because guess what? I just had my first hike last month and I can’t wait to share this experience with you!

πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Recently, life has not been working well with me. I broke up with my significant other last month and I’ve been doing things just to divert my attention, like going for a solo hike for the first time. Luckily, a friend offered to go with me and since this is my first hike, I agreed!

So, the mountain is called Mount Gulugod Baboy. Why? Because it is shaped like a pig’s spine. Awesome right?! We met up at 4 in the morning and rode a bus to Anilao Batangas.

We didn’t know there is another route. Because the bus we rode in actually went to a different part of Batangas, which made the trip longer.Β

We reached Batangas around 8:30am. Phew! That was a four hour travel time which should only be a 2 hours estimate trip. Haha. But anyway, it was fun.

Oh I forgot to tell you guys that the mountain is also known as Mt. Pinagbandirahan, though less people don’t know that it’s the same Mountain. This is where we register our names in and if ever we would like to have a tour guide. My friend and I were both hesitant at first because he told me it was an easy hike. So we decided to have one. Hahahahahaha! We’re pretty high that time. Kidding.

So now that we’re all set to go on hike, we went for a pee break first. There’s a store in front of the registration area where we can buy trail snacks and can use the comfort room for Php5. Upon using the comfort room I saw this thing. Hahahaha! It means, “Break the crystals in case of emergency.” What? Oh well. Nothing’s in there, I checked it before leaving the area. Hahahaha

This is the part wherein my legs are starting to get REALLY painful. And when I say PAINFUL it really is. It’s my fault anyway, I didn’t prepared for it. As you can see on the back the road is uphill. And I’m about to lose my breath, so I did a quick selfie with my friend. That’s my college friend right there, good looking guy!

You know the crazy thing about this hike too? Aside from the fact that I didn’t jog a week before this hike, I wore a pair of running shoes which is very SLIPPERY. Good god. I’m crazy, I’m stupid. I know. I learned my lesson okay? Haha

***An hour later***

After a LOT of rests and cursing because it’s so hard to hike a mountain, I can already see the fascinating view when I look back.

My non stop question to our tour guide, “How much longer?”

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

We’re almost there!!!!! Woohooo!

πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ

Before we even reach the summit, I had so many stops. My friend is the only person who encourages me. “Just a few more steps! Don’t rest here we’re almost near! Don’t drink too much water you’ll get more exhausted!” Hahahahahaha!

Introducing our very own perky tour guide Kuya Ronie! That’s him having a chit-chat with my friend while we reach the summit. He doesn’t want to take photos of him so I stole a shot. Haha

Such a great feeling. I no longer want to leave this place. Everything is worth it.

I’m thankful to these two men and their Β encouragement and never ending patience with me upon hiking the place.Β

After taking a break at the top we decided to go down since the clouds are getting lower and we don’t want get stuck at the top while its raining.Β

While we’re descending the trek is much easier. But there were hardships still such as the sloppy mud trails that will take your sweat away because of the thought that you might slip and go to the cliff. Hahahahhaha.

Of course, the clumsy me. I slipped numerous times. And the funny thing is I slipped with only the side of my body. Here’s a photo

And I’m so glad no one had seen the scene excep for Kuya Roni and my friend. They were laughing non stop, even me. Because when I slipped i was like WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED! HAHA It’s sooo fun!!

The hike only lasted for four hours. And I can say that the trail is really for beginners. We’re almost down and we have to walk through this again. 😦

I can feel my legs shaking at this time and my left foot in pain. Good thing when I felt it we’re close to the registration area.

Since we finished the hike for 4 hours, it’s just 12noon. So we made the most out of it and went for a quick dip at the sea!

I was too tired to take photos. I was extremely tired. And the view of the sea is relaxing to my eyes. We just stayed at the sea and talked about our lives, the movies we watched, stories about work. Then we left at 4:30 in the afternoon.Β

We hopped in the van around 6 in the evening. We thought the adventure is over, but no. Hahaha. The van that we rode is unable to go to the uphill part of the road so some of the passengers have to leave the vehicle until it goes up. Luckily we don’t have to walk becuse we’re at the bottom part of the van. Hahahahaha. it’s just funny.

It was such a memorable, hilarious, unforgettable experience. Mt. Gulugod Baboy will always be a part of my life.

Until my next hike!
